Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lincoln Scott Diehl, founder of TRD Training, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

TRD Training is an online subscription-based fitness platform. We host fitness programs at a price our subscribers decide. Our customers are any individual who is hopeless and lost on their fitness journey. We offer a simple and accessible route forward. Then, if needed or wanted, we assist our customers through personalized coaching.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been sort of a self-starter type. If there is something that I am interested in or want, I tend to go after it. That's kind of played out in a lot of the career-type endeavors I've undertaken. I dropped out of college, pursued freelance videography for a while, played basketball semi-professionally overseas, and now I'm here. I'm motivated by the constant tinkering and retooling of the pursuit of what I really want. My business is an expression of that. I want it to reflect who I am and what I can offer to the world. I love getting to explore what that means on a daily.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm not sure. That's really a tough one to nail down. At this point, it would probably have to be the creation of TRD Training's platform. The commitment and follow-through in doing something that I set out to do are really meaningful to me. Plus, it really is a great platform that can help a lot of people get unstuck in their fitness journeys.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being creative. There is no roadmap. Pretty much everything I am doing is new to me. I have to be ok with tinkering, trial and error, and looking/feeling like an idiot. Most days, I go through a cycle of feeling like a genius, then a moron, then a really big moron, then a genius again. The hardest part is making a choice to choose to show up daily.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I would just give one, stay hopeful. Hope is the fuel that can keep you walking toward the dream or vision you have in your head. The moment you give up hope is the moment you die. You didn't start your business just cause you wanted it to succeed. You started it because you believed that there is a reality more satisfying than the one you are currently living. That's the dream that has to stay alive, and that's the dream that can come true one way or another. Your business might fail, but if you keep hope, you can't die.
