What's your business, and who are your customers?

We handmake scented soy wax candles, natural body scrubs and bath salts. All our products are made with clean and non-toxic ingredients. Our body scrubs can be used all year. They help exfoliate dry, flaky skin and leave skin soft. Our candles are made with organic soy wax and non-toxic fragrance oils. We carry a variety of scents ranging from soft and subtle to bold and strong.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Silda and I am a certified yoga instructor. I love going for hikes, walks and swimming. I've always had a busy life and looked for activities that brought me tranquility. That's how my business and business name Tranquil Pleasures was created. Not only did I find tranquility in candle and body scrub making, I found that others can enjoy the tranquil pleasures of burning candles and using body scrubs and bath salts.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is having people recognize and compliment my products. It makes me very happy when someone tells me they were gifted or bought my products and how much they love them.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is learning all the aspects of a business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Don't worry about figuring it all out in one shot. It takes time to build and grow your business.

2. Don't be discouraged if you don't hit your sales targets, you are constantly learning and will reach your goals.

3. Go with your gut. It's great to listen to feedback but not everyone will know what's best for your business.
