Data Analysis, Insights, and Reporting - Tracktile

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jordan Rose, Co-Founder of Tracktile, located in Charlottetown, PE, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We help Food and Beverage Manufacturers go digital with our software and smart hardware platform. Enable total visibility into their production facility, end-to-end traceability, and data insights.

Tell us about yourself

I grew up in the food manufacturing industry, my father spent over 25 years running a seafood processing facility, and I spent much of my youth working in plants just like his. I saw how much people cared about making high-quality food products. My background has since turned to software as an engineer, but I've spent most of my professional career working in produce and seafood traceability. I started my business with the goal of removing the cost and complexity barrier of entry for any food and beverage manufacturer. Making food and beverages is difficult. We aim to reduce the stress around production and provide ease of use that gives owners and managers peace of mind each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Learning to sell. I've spent most of my life in technical roles, and since founding this company, I've learned that almost everything you do in life, both personal and professional, has something to do with selling. Not the sleazy salesman, but adding value to other people in exchange for something, whether that be time, money, advice, or their help.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Having a solid peer group of individuals who understand what it means to start and grow a business has to be one of the hardest things to cultivate as an entrepreneur. It must be a selfless relationship, not based on give and take but on mutual growth and feedback.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top three tips would be to find a co-founder you can share the business journey with, learn public speaking, and don't get stuck in the loop of consuming information and knowledge, you must apply what you learn in practical use, and you need to strike a balance of learning and action.
