Effective Weight Loss Program - Toronto Metabolic Clinic

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nora Ovtcharova, Co-Founder of Toronto Metabolic Clinic, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am in the business of preventative health care. I want to prevent my patients from going down the path of needing dialysis. I want my patients to be able to enjoy their life in their later years without fear for their health. The Toronto Metabolic Clinic as a whole is focused on the treatment of metabolic-related conditions that plague so much of our population. The population of patients most commonly seeking our services is those who may suffer from prediabetes, diabetes, obesity, PCOS, fatty liver, heart disease, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, and hypertension.

Tell us about yourself

I came to this business with a motivation to change the current standards of care to a more preventative approach, not only pertaining to medical care but also to agriculture, livestock farming, and our environment. By bringing awareness first to what we put into our bodies with the food we eat, we will make more conscious decisions on what we allow into our food chain. Companies are cutting corners to make profits to the detriment of the health of the people.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is when I see my patients achieving their health goals and going ahead on their own path of positively influencing others around them in making health-conscious decisions.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It is most difficult to find like-minded people to bring to your team.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Staying true and integral to your mission, always remembering what motivated you initially to go down this business venture. This will help keep you going through the tough times.
  2. Leave your doors open to any opportunity that may arise. Even if it does not work out right now, later down the road, the paths may cross again, and as you reconnect and you have already established/built this relationship and trust.
  3. Be patient. Sometimes you end up putting a lot of effort into growing your business without much success, but then later, it starts to flourish organically. I feel that when you put your intention, even if you don't see the immediate results, you will see the benefits in ways perhaps you didn't even imagine.
