Your Journey to Success - Topflyte Ecommerce

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Veronica Jeans, CEO and Founder of Topflyte Ecommerce, located in Seabrook, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an eCommerce business consultant, speaker, and bestselling author of the Shopify Made Easy series. I have been coaching eCommerce businesses to grow in the global marketplace - from online startups to brick-and-mortar stores that want to start their own online outlet for additional revenue streams.

I have integrated my extensive knowledge in the field of business, along with my international financial expertise, to offer a playbook for generating income online. I provide business owners with the right way to start their online business to show them how to take advantage of the internet. What's more, they don't have to be tech-savvy to get up and running quickly.

Tell us about yourself

I started in the eCommerce niche by accident. I have been in business for over 35 years, and my previous business was supplying IT personnel for international projects. I built the company to about $ 3+ million in 4 years, and when the 2008 recession hit, and six months later, we experienced one of the worst hurricanes in Houston, Texas, I had to close my doors. I was trying to decide what I wanted to do next when one of my eCommerce contacts asked me to mentor and help his customers. And here I am, still doing the same and loving it. There is no better feeling than helping entrepreneurs realize their full potential and being part of the journey.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner is my Shopify Made Easy book series still in the Top 100 Bestselling books on Amazon since 2020. I am most proud of being asked to lecture students at the college level in Social Studies and being voted by the students as the highest-rated English lecturer in the college for two years running.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things for a business owner is managing time and resources and still having fun.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. When you start out as an entrepreneur, you need to know your goals and have a plan for how to achieve those goals. You need to know where you are going and how you want to get there. If you don't know where you are going, how will you get there? If you plan a road trip, you ensure you are on the right roads, and most of the time, you have an end of the trip in mind. But you also prepare for the trip by checking out the roadmaps, booking your hotels if you need them, ensuring your car is in good condition, buying necessary snacks and drinks for the road trip, and probably new clothes to wear to the beach. So why would you start a business without goals and a plan?
  2. Most eCommerce entrepreneurs just want to sell and do not consider nurturing their customers. The traditional methods are to create paid advertising, sell your products, and ship. With this method, you are buying customers who are likely not very engaged and won’t come back. In short, this is as effective as screaming in the wind. You have heard the saying: “People buy from people they know and trust.” The way to build trust is by giving value first based on the need and interests of your visitor, which starts with making connecting and focusing on a relationship first.
  3. Borrow somebody's expertise. As entrepreneurs, we know we can accomplish everything. But it takes a lot of time to learn everything we need to be successful. The best and fastest way to accomplish this is to ask for help, whether it is a coach or somebody to help with running your business. Think of yourself as an Olympic athlete. If you did not have a very good coach on your team, you would not get to the Olympics.
