More Revenue, Impact, and Influence - TKC Incorporated

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angela Heath, CEO of TKC Incorporated, located in College Park, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a speaking/training and program development company that serves solopreneurs, subject matter experts, and small company executives to transform their expertise into more revenue, impact, and influence. To accomplish this goal, we help them create books, virtual events, and signature programs that grow their industry thought leadership and income.

Tell us about yourself

I started this company because I see too many brilliant solopreneurs, freelancers, independent contractors, and small business builders struggling to shine in the marketplace. They have great offers and proven results, but they find themselves struggling to attract clients and profitable partners. That used to be me. After having a successful consulting group for 20 years, I closed my doors to help my child battle leukemia for 3.5 years. I didn't know what to do because I could not travel around the country and leave my child in the hospital without me.

Eventually, after a lot of failed attempts and too much wasted time, I implemented the same strategy that started my first company — creating an income-producing book, speaking on stage, and producing signature programs. I attracted large clients, shattered the six-figure barrier again, and now enjoy doing something that I love and being compensated well. I want that for everyone who is being overlooked, underpaid, and doubting their value. That's why I help them grow their industry respect. My upcoming book, Six Figures + Zero Employees, will help my target audience soar.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My metrics are as follows: I am proud of them all.

  • 1 Distinguished Alumni Award for Miami University
  • 2 International awards for speaking and training
  • 4 Income-producing books
  • 5 National awards for signature offers
  • 100s of written products
  • 1,000s of speeches and training delivered
  • 30,000+ people served

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Developing the mindset of a CEO. I find most service professionals start businesses because they are good at something. But, they may not have any idea of what it takes to run a business. The administrative aspects can be daunting. However, the mindset of the CEO sees the vision as achievable and clearly and passionately communicates it so that others with needed skills are attracted to it. Creating a clear pathway to the vision with definite signposts along the way is also part of the mindset.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Create an income-producing book, even if you can't write. You don't have to. This will set you apart from the masses in your industry.
  2. Create a transformation process backed by research to serve your customers.
  3. Sharpen your public speaking skills - if they listen to your message, you can sell them your offers.
