Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in sales but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christina Strack, Founder of Titan, located in New York, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Titan is a sales training business designed for people who close sales deals valued at $1 MM and up. My customers are sales managers, salespeople, and event planners in the information technology industry. My audience includes broker-dealers, corporate developers, enterprise salespeople, executive recruiters, theatermakers, hedge fund managers, and venture capitalists.

Tell us about yourself

I knew that I had never come across a sales trainer who specialized in enterprise sales. In the information technology industry, this term refers to salespeople who are selling deals in the range of $250K to 100's of MM's of dollars to public companies. When I researched my competition, I just found a lot of people fronting. People who use the term "enterprise" in their branding or titles but who do not demonstrate mastery of this subject. The initial motivation to do anything is because it is creative, bold, and original. After that, all I care about is being a finisher.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Expanding the service offering to the broader community of deal-makers. My go-to-market position was incredibly narrow, only serving the enterprise technology audience. Through my presentations, trainings, and conversations, I heard that the lessons of my career are valuable to a broader audience. The more people I can help, the less people there are who have to bang their heads off a wall.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Funding. I have made sacrifices far in excess of what I imagined I was capable of doing. Trial and error is incredibly expensive, and it is unavoidable. Ultimately if you are an entrepreneur, you better have a community of people who believe in you because you're going to need it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Your inner voice is the most accurate career compass.
  2. The best opportunities are discovered face-to-face.
  3. Finding a quality health insurance plan that you are eligible to join as a single entrepreneur is rare.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I have been developing a web-based comedy series for the sales technology market. It contains twenty episodes based on real deals I've run. If there are any sales technology companies who have figured out that their videos are too corporate to go viral, they should track me down.
