What's your business, and who are your customers?
Agostina and I created Tina's Bakery with the idea of bringing people together through food. Our goal is to share our traditional Argentine foods and bring a little taste of our culture to the community. We offer cooked and frozen empanadas to bake at home, as well as catering options for events. Our customers range from anyone who is looking for a quick meal and taking the risk of trying something completely new to the ones that already know empanadas and have incorporated them into their day-to-day menu.
Tell us about yourself
We founded Tina's back in June 2020 during the pandemic. With people gathering at homes and the need for food being delivered, we saw an opportunity. We put together a menu, took some photos, and created an Instagram. It kind of kept escalating after that, and we never looked back.
What keeps us motivated every day is how dynamic owning a bakery can be. The creativity and seeing the business grow in front of our eyes keep us moving forward.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Biggest accomplishment is taking the leap and making it happen. Putting in the work and getting our doors open was the best feeling in the world.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is being able to adapt. As well as we try to make systems for operating; you can't control everything. It can definitely be a labor of love.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make the decision to start and keep going, nobody says it will be easy, but it is not impossible.
- Don't do it alone; surround yourself with supportive and positive people that will stay by your side when things get hard.
- Be committed and do the work; this is your dream, and nobody will make it happen for you.
