Your Guide to a Life-changing Journey - Tina Toner

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tina Toner, Founder of Tina Toner Fitness Coaching, located in Longueuil, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My program, Beyond the Body, targets women of various ages, from 30 to 70 years young, who are ready to let go of what isn't serving their higher self and live the next stage of their journey healthier than ever. By means of adopting positive daily habits and physical routines, they are all inspired to go the long haul making this a full lifestyle change.

Tell us about yourself

I've never been a '9-5'er and began entrepreneurship at the age of 19 with multiple business ideas, patents, and product inventions. Being a lover of physical fitness and self-improvement, at age 24, it just made sense to incorporate exercise with serving people, and that's how my business, Tina Toner Fitness Coaching, was born. It resulted in having one of the largest boot camps in Quebec, international wellness retreats, and incredible opportunities to write for WW and become a regular fitness correspondent on the morning news.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Reflecting on how many people my team and I have managed to help over the past 20-something years and recognizing it as a waterfall effect, they learned wonderful habits that they passed on to their families as well.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being 100 percent 'on' all the time. When you're dealing with clients face to face, each person deserves to have the same kind of energy, whether it's 4 pm or 5 am.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do at least one thing every day that will contribute towards MASSIVE growth in your business. Don't just tip-toe; dive right in.
  2. Don't let the words 'competition, recession,' or anything else negative steer you away from your plans. There will always be someone who needs your service or product. You will navigate the way as you go but don't let others' fears rub off on you.
  3. Surround yourself with good people who have been where you are now. It's great to have mom and dad support you, but if they don't know much about your business, you might just get some encouragement and hugs after a hard day but no advice on how to turn things around. Get involved in groups and mentors who can actually give you that advice.
