What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have two businesses, and the majority of my customer and clients are women; I do service and provide things for men, but 80% of my customer and client base is women.
Styles by Tiffany, LLC I am a licensed Master Cosmetologist and independent instructor by trade, where I offer hair and beauty services, eyelash extensions, eyebrow enhancements, and body waxing. My other business, my baby, if you will, is Sensual Bliss Life. Sensual Bliss Life is an E-commerce retail business; we offer lingerie for Xsmall up to 5X, adult toys, and couple bedroom accessories for couples at any point in their relationship and marriages. I am also a certified Sexologist where I offer Confidence, Personal Image, Sensuality & Couples Intimacy coaching. In both businesses, I aim to educate and teach the everyday women from mothers, wives, and businesswomen the opportunity to feel confident and know that they are beautiful they just have to learn how to work through their daily insecurities and personal struggles. I offer coaching in a candid and virtual setting, whichever suits your schedule best.
Tell us about yourself
What got me started in my business (focus: Sensual Bliss Life) I personally was struggling with self-confidence and with my sensuality within my intimate relationship at the time that Sensual Bliss Life (SBL) was birthed. I have always been a singer-dancer since I was a child; dancing was my main love. Spring of 2013, I took my boyfriend at the time to Puerto Rico for his birthday, and we met up with other couples once we got settled. His cousin and her husband being one, she asked me to attend this dance class that I didn’t want to do but went anyway. (45 minutes late) I came in and realized that it wasn’t the type of class I thought it was, lol! So I jumped right on in and caught on easily, but it was so much fun, very sexy, sensual, and easy to duplicate for my man later. I felt so sexy and free afterward. I had a very intriguing and encouraging conversation with her afterward, and she told me if I’ve been dancing for this long and felt like something was missing, then I needed to get back to it. I had been trying to figure out, after myself and my friends had children and loved dance as much as we did, how I could incorporate that again into our adult lives. And this was it… it seems random right now talking about it since I did not mention dancing above. But SBL started out as a dance business where we only taught classes on how to feel sexy and learn sexy dances to do for your mate. Obviously, since 2013, we have evolved because the need for the women we were teaching was much greater. Over the last nine-plus years, our business has grown into a sisterhood, lingerie/fashion shows, model coaching, personal coaching, and women empowerment brand and movement overall. And seeing the change and growth in the women I coach is what motivates me and is so rewarding.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Witnessing the growth in the women. Having a great team that bought into the idea and trusted me and all of my crazy ideas all these years and having the same team members all of these years.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Consistency. Consistency and being human. As a business owner, you’re kind of looked at as an alien-like you don’t have emotions, you don’t get downtime, or you have problems. Take time off to be with family, to live life in any form outside of your business, deal with life changes, and time to heal from tragedy or trauma.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Speak proudly, passionately, and professionally about your business when people ask what you do! Take your time, do the research you need in the field you’re in, take classes/training on marketing your business, and grow your team; you can’t do it all yourself.
