What's your business, and who are your customers?
Thrivister.com is a cumulation of my roots in the coaching arena that began in 2008. While working through the challenges with ADHD in my family, I developed a unique method of helping students with their executive functioning challenges. Hundreds of students have become successful in academics by helping them create strategies, routines, and accountability around their academic goals. Our process helps them to establish executive functioning skills needed to reach their full potential.
Through Thrivister, coaches are trained in my method and continue to help students become empowered while developing the skills needed to succeed in high school and college through our HIPPA-compliant online coaching programs.
Tell us about yourself
As a determined mother who wanted to help my own struggling daughter, my purpose and my drive to be an ADHD coach. This led me to see how I could help others who were struggling as well. The teachers didn't have the knowledge or tools to support students within the classroom with ADHD. In my quest to find help for my daughter, I found coaching and became one of the first trained ADHD coaches working with high school and college students. She graduated, moved on, and is a very successful businesswoman today. That's what has driven my passion for starting Thrivister. Now through Thrivister.com, we can help a wider audience through our highly trained coaches using my proven method.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Hiring and training 20 coaches over the last year that are now thriving using my academic coaching method, with 93% of our clients reporting that they are experiencing success with their goals! This is a big win as you look at the complexity that goes into the hiring process and training of each coach. It is a process to guide a student toward the goals set around time management, prioritization, organization, and emotional regulation as it relates to their academics. It is amazing to see the positive growth in our student's ability to reach their academic goals despite the challenges associated with their ADHD diagnosis.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Staying true to the task at hand. It is easy to get distracted and go down rabbit holes as things pop up during the day. I can set an agenda, and one phone call will get me off track for the rest of the day. Even a coach specializing in focusing, organization, and prioritizing needs structure and routines! The best way to manage this for me is to set chunks of time dedicated to deep concentration, turn off my notifications, and then set other time blocks for checklist types of items that don't require deep analytical thinking.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Does it align with a deeper purpose in your life? Does it solve a problem for you in a meaningful way?
- Do you have a deep PASSION for solving this problem? This will create the drive to solve all of the day-to-day problems that WILL happen.
- Does the solution bring you great Happiness? Can you visualize your own happiness by being successful in the purpose of this business?
These factors will determine to what extent your company will be successful. It is the foundation for all the hard work that is headed your way when you take the leap of faith into starting your own business!
