Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ryan Schneider and Max Schlather, Co-Founders of Thrive25, located in Tampa, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Thrive25 focuses on our health & longevity. Life gets more complicated in your 30's and 40's. This is when we typically undergo massive life changes, such as - finding a partner, starting a family, climbing the corporate ladder, buying a home, and taking care of our parents. Simultaneously, if we don't make it a priority, our health starts to decline, and we aren't able to bounce back from periods of extreme stress like we could when we were younger. The data bears this out - these decades represent our lowest level of happiness. Our mission is to inspire and empower all of us hitting this life stage to achieve our optimal health. We develop products that make it easier to know what we should be doing to live longer, better & smarter. Today that includes a free daily newsletter - but very soon, we'll be rolling out additional products and services that are all aligned around the vision of living our best life.
Tell us about yourself
We are living and breathing examples of our target customers - both being 40-something dads that felt our bodies and minds start to slow down. With young kids and ambitious goals, we weren't ready for that. When we went looking for what to do to optimize our health, we found way too much info out there - much of it useless. So we started Thrive25 to transform what we've learned into something that is actually useful. There's honestly no better feeling than getting a note from a customer or client that tells us how Thrive25 is making a difference for them. We keep showing up every day because we want all of us to live without being restricted or compromised by our health - and that passion will never go away.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Becoming an integral part of the daily lives of the thousands of readers in our community. We've received countless emails from readers that tell us how Thrive25 has really helped them - stories like starting the day with a more positive mindset, achieving fitness goals they didn't think were possible, or just knowing how to be more present/patient with their partners/kids.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
It's hard to start any business - you make a ton of sacrifices in terms of time and money to create a new company. Every single day there's a new challenge, and the constant ups and downs can be an exhausting roller coaster. It can be a massive strain on your stress and health. We constantly remind ourselves to not stop focusing on our own health and to live in the present while planning for the next steps in the future. Sometimes easier said than done.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Surround yourself with the right partners - find a co-founder/advisor/leadership team that meshes with your skills and personality.
- Know your customer - be maniacally focused on your customer - who they are, what they do, and what they like/don't like to help shape your products to them. Don't try to create demand; meet them where they are.
- Know the problem - know the problem you're looking to solve better than your customer, especially your competitors.
