Daily Doses of Inspiration - This Holistic Life
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tracie Braylock, Founder of This Holistic Life, located in Toledo, OH, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I’m the founder of a holistic health and wellness education business. While I primarily focus on women’s health, my customers are those interested in enhancing their overall health and well-being.
Tell us about yourself
I’m a holistic nurse educator and writer specializing in holistic, integrative, and spiritual health and healing. I started my entrepreneurial journey at home over ten years ago, teaching and coaching online while caring for my children.
I educate people on preventing unnecessary illness, optimizing health, and healing naturally because I previously worked in the operating room, caring for those who were very sick and in need of life and body-altering operations.
This is why educating people on preventing unnecessary illness, optimizing health, and healing naturally is important to me and is what motivates my nursing practice.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Having my work published by the American Holistic Nurses Association, Proverbs 31 Ministries, and Hallmark Mahogany are accomplishments I’m proud of. I also love receiving messages from my readers and clients about how our work together improved their lives in one way or another. These personal, heartfelt messages are a reminder that I’m accomplishing my work in the world every day.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I started and grew my business while simultaneously growing my family. Learning how to navigate the constant transitions between motherhood and business has been difficult, yet, I’m wiser because of this.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ask for help. There will be plenty to learn and do, so don’t waste time struggling. Get a mentor and ask for help from your support system.
- Hire others to do the work you’re less passionate about or skilled in. You don’t have to learn how to do every role in your business. And this will help you care for yourself and your business.
- Learn how to rest. Listen to your mind and body long before you burn out or reach a state of exhaustion. Your health is critical to your business.
