Tell us about yourself
I began my career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, where I focused on operations management and pivoted my career to startups, investing, and entrepreneurship after a few years. I love working on focused and intense projects, utilizing my intellectual curiosity to generate and execute my best ideas.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In 2017 after a short search for a small business to buy, I successfully acquired The Wright Gardner from its retiring owner and began working to modernize and grow the business. Since then, we've greatly improved and expanded the business, acquired numerous local competitors also undergoing an ownership succession process, and put a fantastic team in place to manage the business each day.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding, hiring, motivating, and retaining great team members is always the number one challenge.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Figure out how to position your business where the customer demand growth is coming in naturally, so you get to swim downstream.
- Figure out a compelling value proposition to your team members to attract them and keep them excited about your company and their opportunities.
- Focus on over-delivering your core product or service to gain loyalty and goodwill. That will go a long way toward keeping your business healthy and growing.
