Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danielle Massi, Founder of The Wellness Collective, located in Marlton, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Wellness Collective is a (newly) virtual holistic healing center focused on helping people in the Philadelphia area and beyond take their healing into their own hands! We offer virtual services like psychotherapy, reiki, and in-person events like SoulFlow and the annual SELF(ISH)Philly Conference.

Tell us about yourself

I created The Wellness Collective after a sudden cancer diagnosis in 2018 left me shattered and confused. Even as a licensed mental health professional, I wasn't sure where to turn or how best to help myself heal. The Wellness Collective was created to put a variety of healing services "under one roof" so that we can help clients at any stage of their wellness journey."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

A passion project of mine is the SELF(ISH)Philly Conference, which I started at the same time that I created The Wellness Collective. SELF(ISH)Philly is a self-care conference dedicated to directly bringing the best resources in the Philadelphia health and wellness scene to those who could use their services. The event features incredible speakers like Dr. Nicole Rivera and Tara Romano, breakout sessions like Barre3 and SoulFlow, two panels dedicated to answering questions about women's health, and free massages, acupuncture, and reiki for attendees. Creating this conference was a true labor of love, and I'm so proud to be able to bring this event to its third year!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the personal difficulties that I feel comes with being a business owner is trying to keep up with the ever-changing world of social media. I do enjoy the challenge, though!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Lean into your fear. It's normal to be afraid as you're taking big risks, but you're not going to get anywhere unless you're willing to take them.
  2. Network, network, network. In my experience, networking has been one of the greatest assets for my business because it leads to consistent referrals and opportunities to grow and engage with the community.
  3. Have fun! Owning a business shouldn't be all stress and fear. If you're doing what you love and having fun doing it, that energy will translate to others!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The Wellness Collective has a library of free yoga classes (over 50 sessions) on our Facebook page that you can take any time for free!
