Tell us about yourself
After building and running a successful independent consultancy for 7 years, I started The Upside to provide a network of support and essential resources to top independent consultants and advisors worldwide who shared a common journey.
My biggest motivation for building The Upside was knowing how much more successful independent consultants could enjoy if they could share in their journey with peers who challenged them to push out of their comfort zones and re-write business rules on their own terms.
I believe that when it comes to breaking out on your own, once you've seen what's possible when you bet on yourself and know your value, there's no going back.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is helping hundreds of members shatter ceilings and blaze their own trails because the ones laid out for them were way too limiting. Making this type of impact and never giving up on the mission is what I’m most proud of!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is staying focused: focused on your mission, focused on what best serves your customers, and focused on sustainable (and not overnight) growth.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Throw perfection out the window. Entrepreneurship is meant to be messy!
- Do market research to understand your target customer inside and out: know their fears, dreams, goals, and everything in between.
- Pivot, evolve, or change…but never give up.
