What's your business, and who are your customers?

We purveyors of high-quality products for spa, wellness, entertainment, and athletes. We believe that everyone deserves wellness. When it comes to athletes or anyone living an active lifestyle, our focus is your recovery. We believe in using the highest-quality, all-natural, safe, and effective ingredients in every product we produce. Although our products do contain CBD, we focus on each product's wellness aspects, with CBD being only one of the important ingredients we incorporate. Our products also contain no measurable amount of THC making them safe for everyone to use. We sell to spas wellness businesses such as physical therapy and chiropractic businesses. A growing demographic for Splish Natural products are Pickleball players around the country. Splish Naturals is the exclusive wellness sponsor of the U.S. Open Pickleball Championship tournament. We have also been chosen as a product sponsor for the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Tell us about yourself

In 2004 my wife and I opened our first spa. After a 20+ year Wall Street career, we decided it was time to make a life and occupational change. Since those early days, I have gone on to spa director roles for brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, Vail, and Rock Resorts and have consulted with dozens of spa owners. In early 2018 I began to learn about and experiment with CBD to learn what all the "hub-bus" was about and formed my business in September that year. From day one, it's been my personal goal, and now our company's goals are to produce products that are safe to use, all-natural, effective, and trusted by anyone who uses them. This includes individuals at home or therapists that use them during spa services. At the end of the day, we want to make a positive difference in people's lives whether they have aches and pains as part of life or need to recover from extreme levels of activity. Helping others and building teams around that premise is what motivates me each and every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Producing a product that has had a positive impact on people's lives. Not just one or two but every individual who has used our products and continues to use them. We are proud of our product lineup and excited about the ongoing development of new products based on feedback we receive from our customers. It's extremely exciting and gratifying knowing that you can help so many people using an all-natural and healthy product.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Patience. We live in a world of instant gratification. Still, building a business from the ground up takes time and a ton of patience. You need to believe in what you are doing and why you are doing it. Without being able to answer the "why" portion creates even great challenges.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Have a solid plan and share that plan with friends and family that you trust. It's always good to get outside perspective before committing to what could be a very expensive venture in both time and money. Surround yourself with good people and not just people that will agree with everything you say. It's good to be challenged where and when being challenged is warranted. Have fun. Suppose you are starting a business that's nothing more than a job. In that case, the risks associated with starting and operating your own business will not be worth it, so enjoy what you do every single day.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Owning your own business can be both incredibly rewarding and, at the same time, challenging. These go hand in hand. Be persistent, patient, and be willing to pivot when necessary. Work diligently, intelligently, passionately, and be sure to establish goals that are reachable with the appropriate amount of time and effort and, as I said previously, have fun. Owning your own business is a fun venture, so never forget that!
