What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Skin Lab provides advanced anti-aging skincare services and products to help my clients age gracefully and naturally.

Tell us about yourself

For me, being an entrepreneur seemed more natural. I always knew I would be in the beauty industry and help people with all their skincare concerns as a business owner. It is extremely satisfying when I see my clients come back looking 5, 10, and even 20 years younger, and they accomplish that naturally. They begin to understand their skin and how to care for it. As a child, I was already trying different techniques and products to myself to better my skin. I started regularly working while in junior high school to purchase all kinds of products and equipment at home. I started working with friends and other people a few years later. And from there, it grew into being a business owner and offering clients help with all skincare needs and wants.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is bringing to the Kansas City area technology nobody was using, and now other businesses and med spas have the service on their menu to offer their clients. I found and researched a particular treatment and machine, and it turned out to be a game-changer for clients wanting to look 20 years younger but still look natural. That has definitely been my biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Dealing with unknowns is hard. Every day there a new challenges and obstacles to deal with. Business is never predictable, no matter how prepared I am. Growing the business and getting people to know I even exist.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Patience is important. Also, you have to be absolutely passionate about what you want to do. Do your research because you want to be an expert on your services and products.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You can achieve your dreams. Things will not always be easy, and understanding that will give you the mindset of always looking for other ways of accepting or accomplishing what you want.
