Start Increasing Sales Immediately - The Sales Collective

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Steve Heroux, Founder of The Sales Collective, located in Dallas, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At The Sales Collective, we are pioneering a new frontier in partnered selling and sales growth. Our customers & clients range from individuals who would like to improve their effectiveness and become true sales professionals to large corporations who would like to revamp, revitalize, or reimagine their entire sales operation from top to bottom.

Tell us about yourself

This one's easy! I do what I do to help people unlearn 99% of what they've been taught about sales. Sales is NOT about closing, getting deals, and making money. It SHOULD be about helping our clients and customers solve problems they didn't even know they had. Each and every day, there are more people to help and more folks that would benefit from learning how to sell the right way.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

There are definitely a few I could mention, but I would say it's employing and working with our amazing team and providing an opportunity for them to support themselves and their families. Most importantly, we're able to help change lives and businesses along the way, which makes it all beyond worth it!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

This is a long list, as being a business owner/CEO isn't as glamorous as it seems. If I had to choose one, it would be making sure everyone on the team is rowing in the right direction to put the needs of our customers first. A close second would be hiring amazing talent and letting them utilize their talents to help our company grow.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Once again, there are so many tips I could give! If we have to stick to three, here goes.

  1. Be patient. Starting, running, and growing a profitable business (that will be sustainable for years) takes time.
  2. Always be learning. There are things you will never become master-level, but you have to be on a constant journey to grow and get better every day. Learn as much as you can, hire coaches and mentors, and learn from these women and men how to avoid the mistakes they made.
  3. Invest in people. Whether it's hiring coaches/mentors or hiring amazing talent for your company, you've got to spend money to get great people. If you go cheap, you'll get what you pay for.
