Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in home decor and accessories but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elise Bagley, Founder of The Rad Bunch, located in North Las Vegas, NV, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is called The Rad Bunch. My customers are anyone looking for a mix of retro and boho-style designs and products. I offer items that are great to give as gifts or to add a little color to your life and home.
Tell us about yourself
I am someone who has always loved creating, whether that be for myself or for others. I am a wife and mother to three little boys. My main priority was to find a way to be home for them but also find myself in the midst of motherhood. After I had my third son, I found that I didn't really know who I was anymore. I love being a mom, but I also still want an identity. That is when The Rad Bunch was born. It started with just a few sticker designs and has blossomed into a thriving shop with handmade pieces that I get to put my heart and soul into. I get to wake up each and every day and get to be home and present for my family and also get to create and live my dream of being a business owner.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been how quickly I have been able to grow my business to success. I started out my business at the end of May 2022, and by the end of the year, I had hit over 900 sales. I am very grateful for the success I have had and all that I have learned, and also for paying that forward and helping others grow their business.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is my work-life balance. Being present for my family is always my main priority, but there are times when it is hard to step away when I am working on orders or a project. I just have to remember the whole reason why I started my business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be unique. There are so many people out there who are doing the exact same thing. Put your own spin on it. If it is unique to you, then people will come to you for your products because they won't be able to find the same thing elsewhere.
- Do something that you love. It is so fulfilling to be able to create something that brings you joy.
- Be confident. This one is a tricky one, even for me. I struggle with anxiety, so being confident is something that has been a constant struggle in growing my business. If you struggle with confidence, I would advise you to test and test your products. Know that you can stand behind them. Find support in someone you trust so those hard days, you can turn to them and have them remind you that you can do it. Because you can, remember why you started your business and draw your confidence and strength from that.
