What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is making the best pound cakes and pound cake flavors anywhere, with over 80 different ones to choose from, and our customers are anybody that likes deliciousness!
Tell us about yourself
I started out of college doing video production. Twenty years ago, I started making cakes and then, specifically, pound cakes for people while I worked at Clemson University. Gradually, the word spread, and more people ordered the cakes each year until I finally bought a food truck and then opened a brick-and-mortar bakery. What motivates me is to spread the pound cake gospel to more people as we open more locations
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a niche market and growing it into a successful business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
All the regulations and taxes that go with a business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be positive, have fun while you are doing it (or don't do it), and hire the right people to help you do it.
