What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a dog daycare and boarding facility. We provide a safe and active environment for your loved furry family members. My customers are dog owners.

Tell us about yourself

I started the business four years ago when I was laid off from my previous job. It was always a dream of mine to own a dog daycare, and I decided to follow that dream and take the leap. I have been working with dogs for many years before that, and I love coming in every day and getting feedback from parents on how much their pups love us and enjoy daycare.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening up our 4000 sqft facility in May 2022. We started as a home-run business in 2018 and now have a facility and 12 employees!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning all the admin work, haha. I think the biggest challenge is taking a step back and truly enjoying your accomplishments and how far you’ve come.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. A dream is a wish your heart makes, and we should always follow our hearts.
  2. There will be ups and downs, good days and bad days, but if you keep going, you will make it.
  3. Ask for help along the way; you don’t have to do it all alone.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Just do it. If you have a business idea and have researched it, then dive in and do it. The reward in the end and watching the progress make everything so worth it.
