Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in training and education but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Aileen Pincus, CEO and President of The Pincus Group Inc., located in Annapolis, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

It is a business that specializes in executive training, and its customers come from every sector, public and private.

Tell us about yourself

I came to consulting and training after a few decades in journalism as a TV reporter for local and then national outlets. I believe it occurs to every journalist that most interview subjects could use a little help in communicating in certain venues.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is probably surviving the COVID pandemic and coming out the other side with new skills in online coaching.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The toughest part is learning the things that don't come naturally sales, accounting, website development and maintenance, and the whole business side of things.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know what skills you have and what skills are better left to those you hire.
  2. Embrace change.
  3. If you like certainty, entrepreneurship may not be for you, but if you'd exchange certainty for a chance at no limits, take the plunge.
