Tell us about yourself

The Peaks Pet Nanny was established in 2004 when we experienced the stress of leaving our beloved Golden Retriever, Duncan, home alone while working very long hours for Corporate America. As we spent our time attending late meetings and inching along Rt. 80's daily traffic jams, Duncan waited patiently for us to return home and provide the necessary care and exercise. But when high-quality pet care for their beloved "fur child" was nowhere to be found, The Peaks Pet Nanny was born.

I graduated from Rowan University in 2000 and enjoyed a fast-paced career as a staffing manager. Before working as a recruiter, I was a VP at Citibank. I import her business degree, technical skills, staffing, sales, and management experience into The Peaks Pet Nanny, cultivating an award-winning team of dependable Pet Nannies and providing clients with professional customer service.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My husband, Patric, after 20 years in Corporate America as Finacial Recruiter, was able to join me and help run The Peaks Pet Nanny. We have been working together for the last eight years!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I always say, "I am only as good as my team"! Recruiting, hiring, and training the right people is always an ongoing challenge and top priority! When you have the right people representing your business, customers are naturally thrilled with your service, and the business will organically grow and flourish!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do (not what you love) but rather what provides meaning & fulfillment! Running a business is not something you will love every day. (That is what hobbies are for!)
  2. Network, be creative, and try to think outside of the box!
  3. Show appreciation, especially to your team, and appreciation to your loyal customers!
