Tell us about yourself
Originally from Iran, I came to the U.S. in 1981 as a teenager with a suitcase, $100, knew no one, and had no fluency in English. I finished high school, received my Eagle Scout undergraduate degree, and began my career in tech sales, management, graduate degree, and ultimately leadership. Started my firm 20 years ago, supporting the strategic growth efforts of global clients.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Author of 12 books and 20 years of supporting global leaders, many of whom have become good friends! One could argue I've practiced what I preach in strategic relationships!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Balancing your personal wants/needs with the needs of others. It would be easiest to run a solo practice, yet the real opportunity is to scale with the right people on the team - the old adage of "if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go with a team!"
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your why! Don't run away from something run to something!
- Throw away your stopwatch and get a compass!
- Work with fewer people and build deep, meaningful relationships with them!
