What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Munching Box makes small-batch spice blends that can be used as a drink and sauce mixes, rubs, or dips. We are focused on flavor but happen to be 100% vegan and gluten-free.
We also offer subscription boxes and thoughtfully curated foodie gift boxes. Our customers range from novice home cooks to culinary competent. Anyone can use our spice blends to whip up a delicious meal.
Tell us about yourself
We love food! One of my favorite topics of conversation is "what did you make for dinner last week?" Now I get to talk about that all the time!
A lot of work can go into a meal, and our goal is to make sure it tastes great. The endless possibilities of delicious food and the pursuit of finding the next great spice blend really keep us going.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
So far, our biggest accomplishment is creating loyal customers who love our spice blends and keep coming back for more.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part of owning a business is being a jack of all trades. There's always a new skill to learn around every corner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research in advance so that you set things up the right way.
- Charge a fair price for both you and your customers. Even if you don't have the overhead costs when you start, you need to consider that it will be coming, and that needs to be considered when finding your pricing.
- Ask for feedback from strangers. It's also good to ask friends and family, but strangers will usually give you the truth. That way, when they tell you how great your product is, you know they really mean it.
