Inspire Ideas, Create Impact - The Management Suite

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Monique McLeod, owner of The Management Suite, located in Tampa, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Do you love your shopping experience at Target? Are you addicted to Starbucks? Do you believe that Apple products are the superior electronic device? These are just a few mainstream cult brands that many people identify with. I build CULT(ure) Brands for small businesses in their growth phase (years 3-7). I believe that small businesses also deserve to have a strong and passionate following that stands behind what they do - whether it's a product or service.

I help business owners improve their leadership, build company culture, and increase retention so that their employees and customers rave about their brand. I identify strategies to implement that influence the desired behaviors of employees and customers for favorable business outcomes.

Tell us about yourself

After completing my MBA, I decided that I wanted to maximize my impact by using my education and expertise to work with small businesses. I practice lifestyle design, and as a business owner, I fully believe that your business should be designed around the lifestyle you desire.

I have the big picture perspective to see your business and brand at the highest level and the strategy to break it down into attainable goals. I focus on the strong leadership qualities that transform business owners into authoritative leaders that set boundaries and advocate for themselves and their team.

I have cracked the code on how to build a Cult Brands through Culture & Retention that will attract employees and clientele that will rave about your brand.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been my ability to harness the skills and knowledge I already have and identify what part of the market I could enter into to have an immediate impact and help people NOW! Having done this for myself also helps me to assist the business owners I work with to do the same and carve out a niche for their businesses.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about business ownership that I have found at this stage is the evolution of my business. I am full of greatness and have tons of potential, but whenever I think that I am done developing my idea and ready to take it to market, I get more clarity and make more changes. This has been a point of frustration and an obstacle for me because I tend to fall into a pattern of continual improvement instead of taking action and trying out what I already have figured out.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Understand what your strengths are.
  2. Identify the very specific thing that makes you unique and brands your business for that in the appropriate market segment.
  3. Master your signature offer or product before diversifying your business offerings.
