Healthcare Law - The Law Office of Irnise F. Williams
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Irnise Williams, Founder of The Law Office of Irnise F. Williams, LLC, located in Owings Mills, MD, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own a law firm that offers documentation training, data privacy tools, and business development consulting. I work primarily with healthcare business owners who are looking to build, operate and protect their businesses.
Tell us about yourself
I have been a nurse for 14 years, but early on in my career, I knew that I wanted to get away from the bedside to have a greater impact. I went to law school three years in, launched my law practice in 2017, but continued to work as a nurse while figuring out how to be a lawyer. The pandemic shook me and made me realize that I needed just to start and not wait for the perfect plan to come together. I relaunched in 2020 along with healthcare workers who decided to leave the bedside and jump into business. Very few people speak and cater to this market, so I work hard to ensure they have entrepreneurship support.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My greatest accomplishment has been creating digital products for nurses at the bedside and those who decided to go into business. People need accessible and affordable options that are often unavailable for most small business owners.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing has been generating new leads without being gimmicky. There is so much being sold out there that people do what they need to stand out. Integrity is important to me; I am just not selling to sell. I want my resources to have a real impact.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do not try to build your business using every social media platform simultaneously. Create profiles on all of them, choose one, then learn that algorithm and go hard.
- Track your expenses and spending so you can document what investments are leading to strong returns and which are not.
- Create digital products, tools, or resources that can help you create passive income. This is a key component of a sustainable and profitable business.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Before hiring a coach, be clear on your needs and hire for the skills or knowledge you can gain versus the exposure to the information you may already know.
