You Matter - the Inner Shine Clinic
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Catherine Nyika, Founder of The Inner Shine Clinic, located in Bondi Junction, NSW, AU.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Inner Shine Clinic is a transformational clinic that offers holistic, integrated counseling and coaching with a mind-and-body approach to well-being. I am a certified EFT Practitioner (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and Clinical Social Worker, and I guide clients through the steps they need to take to feel empowered, at peace, balanced, and fully present in their lives again.
I work predominantly with women but also with stressed-out individuals, couples, teens, and children, helping them with the challenges of an increasingly time-poor and overwhelmed world. I offer cutting-edge modalities such as energy psychology, EFT, and family constellation therapy that target and heal the root of trauma, core wounds, and limiting beliefs holding us back in our lives.
Tell us about yourself
I’m Catherine Nyika, the founder and principal practitioner at The Inner Shine Clinic in Bondi Junction, Sydney. I am a dedicated advocate of empowering others to heal themselves with the innate wisdom and tools they already possess.
What motivates me each day is the knowledge that the mind and body want to be well and that no matter what we face in life, we can choose who we will become from that experience, and we don't have to merely "survive" but "thrive" with grace, dignity, peace, and confidence.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Actually, believing in myself enough to set up my own business. I knew I was a good therapist, but having to have a business mind and manage all the day-to-day running of a small private practice as well as market myself was both challenging and rewarding on so many levels. I had to face so many of my own limiting beliefs to make it happen and believe in myself.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Isolation, as I love being a team player and knowing it all rests on my own shoulders whether I fail or succeed in this private practice.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Undertake your own coaching (with someone you trust and aspire to be like) to encourage and support you in addressing your own limiting beliefs around success and all the rubbish stories you tell yourself to continue playing small in life.
- Find someone to mentor you and get the cheat sheets and shortcuts. I now support other women going into private practice, so they don't need to make all the mistakes I made in the beginning.
- Don't wait for "one day"—today is the perfect day to begin creating your vision for your business. You have everything you need right here inside yourself.
