Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Natalie Garcia, Founder of The House of Artemis, located in Lake Oswego, OR, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The House of Artemis is a safe space where highly sensitive individuals, empaths, and healers can receive guidance and support for their minds body and spirits. I work primarily with women, the LGBTQ+, and the BIPOC community, and I believe they are the true change-makers of this world.

Using tools such as reiki, guided meditation, flower essence therapy, and tarot, I can channel universal messages and light to any individual who feels they have energetic blockages that interfere with their potential.

Tell us about yourself

What got me started on this path was my own personal healing journey. I used to be lost and confused about who I was and what I was supposed to do in the world. Being highly sensitive, it was difficult to navigate my emotions and the energies I was constantly picking up. I sought out alternative therapies because pharmaceuticals were not working for me.

That is how I discovered the healing power of plants and working with the moon from my naturopath. From then on, I explored the mystical energies that I have always been drawn to, which led to reiki and flower essence therapy, and now I am working on my Master's degree in Integrative Healthcare.

My passion is to help others like me who want to make a difference in this world and who have gifts and want to share them but are not sure how. Knowing I can spread my message and help others who can then help heal the planet motivates me each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is teaching and attuning others as reiki healers to spread the light and see them thrive!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Consistency and self-care. Sometimes it’s easy to get into a pattern of putting all your energy into your business and neglecting your own needs. I'm constantly learning how to balance my life in a way that feels nourishing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure it’s something you are deeply passionate about.
  2. Never stop learning and building skills. You also can not do this alone, so seek spiritual and business support to help you grow.
  3. Don’t give up! It may take a while, and you may need a side hustle, but the longer you stick it out, the amount of energy you put into your business will reward you in time.
