What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a team of Pediatric Sleep Consultants who work closely with families around the globe to help their children get better rest. Our philosophy is that well-rested children are happier and better able to learn from the world around them; well-rested parents are more patient and present for their children; well-rested families are healthier, happier, and more able to enjoy each other.

With every skill your child will learn – be it rolling, crawling, pulling to stand, or even taking solid foods – you will guide them, support them, and offer love and reassurance throughout the process. We believe sleep should be treated the same way, with you guiding your child through the course of learning to sleep independently. This is how children learn best.

We are moms – we understand that helping your child through a big change can be overwhelming and even a little scary. That's ok – we are here to help you through this process every step of the way. With every client, we have an initial, detailed, face-to-face, virtual consultation, provide a step-by-step Sleep Plan, and give them daily advice, support, and feedback over a two-week period, to ensure they have sleep success.

Tell us about yourself

The Happy Sleep Company was born out of the firm belief that a well-rested family is a healthier and happier family. As both a seasoned Sleep Consultant and a well-rested mom, I have seen the amazing effects of children's healthy sleep habits on the overall happiness of families.

I am the Mom of an amazing little girl who was not always such an amazing little sleeper. I know firsthand what it's like to be sleep-deprived, up all night, and feeling so desperate for sleep for my baby and me. I also know what it's like to find sleep help and come out of the other side of sleep deprivation with healthy rest for my family. That's an amazing feeling I wanted to share with other families by training to become a Sleep Consultant and then building The Happy Sleep Company 8 years ago.

Our mission is to help exhausted parents help their little ones gain the healthy, restful sleep they need through a supportive and guided approach.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a team, we have now worked with over 2000 families to help them get better sleep.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Juggling all the things that need to be done that seem to have nothing to do with your actual job! I can't just be a Sleep Consultant. I have to be a web designer, a podcast creator, a social media influencer, an accountant, and a graphic designer!! Luckily I have found amazing people to outsource these things to more and more over the years to help the business grow without it all being on me all the time!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Start small but plan for growth - think ahead about a 1-year plan, a 5-year plan, and a 10-year plan to help you make decisions now that will help your future.
2. Realize that you have to spend money to make money and to grow. It doesn't have to be huge amounts all at once, but you can't do it all yourself, so you'll likely need to outsource some things, which costs money!
3. Don't let your business become all-consuming - you still need to have evenings to yourself sometimes without work, time with friends, etc. It can be hard to take your mind off your work with your own business, but it's so important; otherwise, you'll start to resent it!
