What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an attorney who teaches other attorneys how to charge flat fees and how to adjust their mindset to become a bit happier. Happier attorneys do a better job for their clients, are calmer, have higher emotional intelligence, and make a positive impact in their communities.
Tell us about yourself
I was first licensed to practice law in 1997 in WA state. Nearly five years ago, I moved to Texas for personal reasons and began writing books. One of those books was on flat fees for attorneys, and my coaching business grew out of that book. I love what I do with attorneys. I love seeing the internal changes they make and how it impacts their daily lives and the direction of their lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a business from nothing and seeing the lasting impact that my work creates with my clients.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Having faith in myself and remembering to keep the fear contained.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- To know that, you have to have faith in yourself and do all of the things consistently.
- To have realistic expectations about revenue and expenses, especially at the beginning.
- To save 15% off the top of every single dollar that comes in and to pay yourself every two weeks, even if it is $50.00.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
If someone truly doesn't believe they will succeed or is worthy of succeeding, then they are correct. Mindset is 95% of this gig. And to learn from others. There isn't a problem in business or life that someone else hasn't dealt with and written about.
