Grow Your Revenue Using Email - The Email Copywriter

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chris Orzechowski, Founder of The Email Copywriter, located in Westfield, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own an email marketing training company. Our customers are email copywriters and email marketers who work for online brands. We help our students learn how to generate insane paydays from email marketing for themselves and for their clients.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business because I wanted to quit my teaching job. So I went online and started researching how to make money on the internet. I tumbled down the rabbit hole and discovered this thing called copywriting. You could get paid to write the words that business owners need to sell their products and services. I always loved writing, so I decided to go all in. After years of working with clients and getting them great results, I started sharing everything I learned.

Eventually, I attracted a following. And now, I spend my time teaching my students and working with a handful of select clientele. I love teaching people this skill. It's one of the most powerful wealth creators I've ever seen. If you can sell, the sky is the limit. I love hearing how my students are earning more money, starting new careers, and building great brands.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to work from home with my wife and kids and never have to worry about money. That's all I ever wanted, and I got it. The rest of the things I do in my business, the lofty goals I have... that's all so I can see just how far I can push myself.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part about being a business owner is understanding that as a CEO, you have to be an effective capital allocator. You have to learn how to use the money to make more money. It sounds easy, but as you grow and start hiring a team, you have to cast vision and make the right decisions. This is the stuff that no one tells you. It's a skill you have to learn one painful lesson at a time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a big, important problem you can solve. It doesn't have to be a "billion dollar problem." The best businesses solve important problems and deliver consistent results for their customers.
  2. Find 10 customers. If you can't get 10 people to buy the thing you're trying to sell, you're going to have a hard time building a business around it.
  3. Get good at copywriting. A lot of business and marketing happens online. Copywriting is the language of sales. If you're good at copy, your marketing will become much more effective.
