What's your business and who are your customers?

Online courses in filmmaking, writing & entrepreneurship (my audience are diverse creatives aged 22 - 56)

Tell us about yourself

Covid lockdown got me to go 100% online (I had been teaching locally and live for 25 years). My major motivation has been to help people who felt they could not access the film business to have six-figure careers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

So many things I'm proud of!! Maybe that my film courses have now hit 14 countries and most of my alumni launched careers very quickly.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Not knowing what will work at all times... hard to scale.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you are passionate about something, get some basic marketing training and START because you can't win if you don't play.
  2. I am a huge believer in the SamCart platform to simplify the process of selling.. to the point where I became an affiliate - they changed the way I do business in the best way.
  3. Delegate when you can so you don't burn out.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I instantly went from zero to $10K/month in my first month and retired from working on sets one year later. I wish I had known it was this easy when I was younger.
