Get Out of Survival Mode and Thrive - The Coaching Sanctuary
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tiffany Hendra, Founder of The Coaching Sanctuary, located in Dallas, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Coaching Sanctuary™ (an empowerment company for women) aligns spiritual transformational modalities with effective branding, on-camera, and social media principles for the mission-driven woman. Combining 25+ years as an on-camera TV host/spokeswoman and deep healing and empowerment journey, I guide women on their own.
Tell us about yourself
The first quote I memorized when I began my spiritual journey is what I still live by today and continues to be the foundation of my business and brand: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined" - Henry David Thoreau. I know my calling is to guide and inspire other mission-driven women around the world to live their most authentic, whole, purposeful, and courageous lives. There was a point in my healing when I was 'sick and tired' of seeing other women disempowering themselves with choices that kept them stuck in survival mode instead of empowering themselves to THRIVE! That is my "why" and the driving factor in my daily motivation. For years, I didn't believe in my ability to be an entrepreneur and business owner. I kept coaching as a side hustle for a few years until the "why" could no longer be ignored. It was a slow build from pivoting out of modeling and television to creating my YouTube Channel, Sanctuary Of Style, which has graduated into The Coaching Sanctuary™. Little did I know that the 200+ videos I created on YouTube were practice and fine-tuning my innate coaching abilities.
In 2016, I was inducted into the Bravo housewives sorority as a season one cast member on Real Housewives Of Dallas. I now host and co-produce my own show, #SOTHRIVE with Tiffany Hendra. All of these platforms share the same intention to help women get out of survival mode and truly thrive! I believe "thriving" is about living in freedom, harnessing your innate feminine power, using your voice, cultivating courage, loving yourself WAYYY more, making healthy, empowering choices, and living with unapologetic authenticity.
In 2002, I hit rock bottom and met God on a bathroom floor in West Hollywood from a near opiate overdose. This was the beginning of a long mental, physical, and spiritual journey that would ultimately transform my mess into my message. This journey ignited a deep passion for empowering women around the world to do the same. I found my calling, or my calling found me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The results and transformation my clients walk away with!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The imposter syndrome that hits right before the next up level, but I've learned to lean into it instead of resisting and take it as a growth marker. Also, releasing the need to control everything, learning to delegate, and slowly building the right team. Your business cannot grow if you are unwilling to accept the right support!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- The old saying, "you love it so much you would do it for free," still holds true. You eat, sleep, and dream your business (meaning you do not clock 9-5), so you've got to absolutely love it. Be obsessed with service! Serving women from my highest ability is what lights me up the most.
- Have your 5-year plan umbrella/big picture, then narrow your focus to the year, then down to 3 months. Working in 3-month phases has kept me out of total overwhelm many times. Many businesses truly hit their stride at about year 4 or 5, so be patient. Know when it's the right time for you to scale and not compare to others businesses and their speed of growth.
- YOU are your business, so keeping a spiritual meditation/visualization and self-care practice is a must. I burned out my adrenals in the beginning, and we are no good to our family, friends, or clients if we are physically, mentally, and spiritually unwell.
