Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ty Tricoglou, Founder of The Chef Ty, located in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I do private chef work and some catering. My customers are people who want a great meal but don’t want to go out or cook themselves and folks who want to enjoy their own dinner party, celebration, and/or event.
Tell us about yourself
I’ve been in the restaurant business for 25 years. I’ve worked in every part of a restaurant, from dishwasher to executive chef of some of the finest restaurants in the Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra area. I started this business at the end of the COVID era to bring great restaurant-quality food to those who did not feel comfortable going out.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner so far has been the ability to bring my daughter to help me and learn to work and cook in a way we would not normally do at home.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think the hardest thing for me as a business owner is self-promotion.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top 3 tips would be to make sure you love the lifestyle it brings-working a lot. Don’t quit before your breakthrough. And be patient; if you haven’t run a business before, this is new and somewhat hard.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Live your dreams.
