Bloom Into Your Best - The Blooming Rose
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leena Sombath, Founder of The Blooming Rose, located in South Jordan, UT, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Blooming Rose strives to encourage women to feel empowered by getting them to their beauty goals. We also extend our importance of doing beauty services the healthy and right way to clients through education on services and products. We specialize in eyelash extensions, but we do offer other services in all things Esthetics as well. Consultations are free by request in order to provide clients with answers as well as work with clients toward their end goal. Our clients deserve the best! Our clientele is everyone of all ages. Because we have a wide range of services, there's something for everyone!
Tell us about yourself
While I was going to school for Business, I worked part-time at a med spa. The people I worked with encouraged me to pursue schooling in Esthetics because it interested me so much. I was torn between the two but made the leap to do both at the same time! After I graduated from both, I took the risk of opening my own business, and I have grown so much almost a decade later. What keeps me motivated is that I love and enjoy what I do. It's one of my most important boxes to tick when it comes to choosing your path.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is creating my very own product line of supplies that we use daily at my studio. It's very prestigious to say we use our own tried and tested in-house product. This shows our commitment to our clientele to use a quality product that we believe in. Our happy clients that achieve amazing results are proof enough that our products and services really do work. The feedback we get about our product and services reinforces that we are onto something special.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I can sometimes be hard on myself when things don't go as I originally planned. Personally, one of the hardest things that come with owning a business is when you have an idea or plan, and it doesn't get executed as successfully as you'd like; it can feel very discouraging. It can feel heavy, but the only thing you can do is learn from your mistakes, pick yourself up, and continue on.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I think anyone who is looking to start a business today should research, take the risk, and make sure the venture is something you are passionate about and truly care about. Build a strong foundation for your business by creating policies and procedures for any event and contingencies. Never stop learning and growing. You may think you've reached your peak, but trust me; you haven't. The business you go into will continually change as we make progress, and if you're not learning and keeping up, you'll fall behind.
