What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Best Day Details is a wedding coordination company serving couples all over the state of Michigan. We coordinate weddings for couples who enjoy doing the planning themselves and just need some help on the big day. We meet with them before the wedding to discuss details, create a timeline, and help them think through the logistics of the day. Once all this information is passed off to us, we run the show! Our couples and their families won't have to lift a finger on the wedding day since we take care of everything.
Tell us about yourself
I got the idea for a day of coordination-only business when I was planning my own wedding. I, like so many brides, realized I could not actually run the wedding day since I would be a little busy enjoying it! I want to give all couples the stress-free day they deserve.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is hiring my team. Since I have a team of ten, I am able to have much more freedom as a business owner in addition to a scaleable business model. The coordinators I have hired have served our couples with dedication and passion, and I am so proud of them!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is the occasional unsatisfied customer. We do our very best, but we sometimes make mistakes, or something goes wrong, and the client perceives it as our fault. We try to own and learn from our mistakes. But we also have to accept that some people won't ever be happy, and that is something we just have to shake off and move on from!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Start now! The sooner you start trying, the sooner you can start learning from your mistakes and growing as a business owner and a person. So many people wait far too long to start their businesses, and they miss our years of progress and growth.
