What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a professional baby planner. I help expecting parents prepare for the life changes that come with having a baby.
Tell us about yourself
When I became a mom, I realized there was a huge gap in the market to support new parents. There are so many resources to help prepare you for birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. But there is very little to help prepare your life, career, and home for a baby.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Getting my first full-paying client and having them RAVE about how much help my services were to them in preparing to become parents. I felt so fulfilled and knew this was the best possible career for me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being in a new market and not always knowing how to grow. Also, time management with building a business while still working a full-time job and having a family.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't expect success right away. It can take 1-5 years sometimes for you to work out all the kinks and determine what your customers need.
- Choose something you genuinely enjoy. That way, you enjoy the journey and won't give up when fighting just for an end goal.
- It's ok if things aren't perfect right away, there will be a lot of trial and error, and you will improve your processes and quality over time!
