Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and nutrition but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elizabeth Rose, founder of The Adeptist, located in Boulder, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business serves women who are ready to heal at the root. I combine holistic nutrition with deeper emotional and energetic healing to support women in healing from chronic stress, hormonal imbalance, and other symptoms that are taking away from them being at their full power and potential.
Tell us about yourself
I became a Holistic Women's Health Practitioner after struggling with hormonal imbalances and undergoing a health crisis without much support. I realized women's health is underserved, and there are not a lot of resources for women to receive real answers and guidance around what they're struggling with. I wanted to become a safe space and a resource for women to find healing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping hundreds of women reconnect to their bodies, learn how to nourish themselves, restore their fertility, and find more peace and purpose in their lives.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think many entrepreneurs are visionaries. Being a visionary can often cause you to feel ahead of your time. You see a gap that needs to be filled, but it can be hard to relay that to others and articulate the value you offer. For me, combining physical healing with spiritual and emotional healing is not something everyone is open to. Many are still looking for quick fixes, diets, and supplements. And while I love offering meal plans and supplement recommendations, true healing takes time, energy, and intention. And one must be willing to give themselves the spaciousness one requires to heal.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ask yourself this: If more people (fill in the blank), the world would be a better place. Then, create a product or service that relates to this.
- Focus on adding VALUE first. Money will flow from there.
- Before you get into business, be clear about the kind of life you actually want to live. What are your core values? Do your best to build your business around that, not your life around your business. If you have to sacrifice your quality of life for your business, you won't be able to enjoy the possible success you experience. (I learned this one the hard way.)
