Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with María José Valero Sancho, CEO of TGMBP, located in Valencia, Spain.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My main focus is the growth of companies and professionals, supporting them on the road to their goals (trying to live at the level of our talents instead of at the level of our beliefs). I work on my clients' cultural, organizational, and digital transformation (enterprises, public organizations, startups, and first-line managers). As well as on new innovative projects related to education, technological solutions or cybersecurity.

And from the social responsibility, I represent in my community, the largest worldwide technological entrepreneurship program for young people from 8 to 18 years old. The program challenges them to create a mobile application or artificial intelligence device that solves a social problem in their community, do the market study, the marketing plan, the business plan, and pitch.

Tell us about yourself

For over fifteen years, I have worked as a manager of two production plants in a multinational company in the automotive sector. During all this time, I have really enjoyed working with my team and growing together. I have learned a lot about lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, leadership, etc. I wish to transfer all this knowledge to other big and small companies, startups, or managers to give back to my community everything I have received and be an active (and positive) part of its growth and future sustainability.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Keeping my business in the market, adapting to the changes, and growing up daily in results, team, and clients.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

We all know the phrase "the loneliness of the boss,"... but when you are also the owner, you have the weight of the responsibility of the families that you have to sustain, assuring their work.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Build a team with a shared vision and keep focus.
  2. Create a safe psychological environment (Trust, empathic listening, and transparency).
  3. Choose the right KPIs (SMART objectives) and follow the results in order to adapt quickly to the changes.
