Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in candle-making but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Teri Palmer-Stanback, owner of Granny's Gleam, located in Milwaukee, WI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business started out as a candle company. It has grown over the year into making candles, affirmative bracelets, room spray, car diffusers, commemorative candles, and I am adding things on regularly.

Tell us about yourself

My company name is Granny's Gleam. This business came to being as I was sitting back and trying to figure out a way to keep my grandmother's memory alive. I then also wanted to learn how to make candles, so I decided to put them both together, and Granny's Gleam was born. The irony of it also is that the day I decided to create my business is also the day of my grandfather's birthday. So, this company is built on passion and commitment to making people's lives and spaces feel great.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that I have not quit. I have continued to show up for myself and my family to create a legacy.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me is to keep going even when things are slow and you may not be making a profit.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make sure it is something you are passionate about. Do not think about everything that can go wrong, as that will become your focus. Lastly, do not give up.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I love to see my clients become happy with their products. I also love to research the different scent profiles to ensure I am providing my clients with the best and most accurate information.
