Squarespace Templates for Therapists - Templates by PREMADE
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julie Goldberg, Co-Founder of Templates by PREMADE, located in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I co-founded a website template and branding business for therapists in private practice. We create beautifully designed Squarespace website templates for therapists that are easy to use and visually pleasing. We work with therapists, coaches, yoga teachers, and holistic healers to help them seamlessly create a website so they can get back to doing the work they love.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a therapist in private practice and met my co-founder, Lindsey, after I hired her to redo my branding and website. I love being a therapist, yet the routine of only seeing clients every day can feel a bit monotonous to me. When I was setting up my private practice, I realized how much I also love the business side of things. It feeds me creatively, and my "east coast" directiveness comes in handy. I naturally became the "go-to" person for my friends and colleagues to ask about business things.
The partnership to create PREMADE happened organically and utilized both of our skill sets. I bring my private practice expertise, and Lindsey brings her creative genius to create the websites. We both are passionate about making mental health more accessible, and this is a way for us to support therapists on a larger scale.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
For me, the biggest success as a business owner is finally having a schedule that works for my nervous system. I've finally mastered what I need in the morning before work to feel good, when to take breaks throughout the day, and how to unwind at night. The impact on my overall well-being is truly life-changing. I sleep better, I'm more present for my family and friends, and I'm much better at my job.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Saying no! Working in the virtual sphere, it's easy to be overly available and move things around for clients. I've come to learn that having clear boundaries around my time is crucial for the longevity of my work.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First off, I'd tell people that it is 100% doable! You can create the business and life of your dreams; the only thing stopping you is YOU. Find friends and colleagues that are in a similar boat and gain peer support. Seek out (and pay for) quality mentorship. This is a much more efficient use of your time - there's no reason you need to spend hours googling answers to your questions when you could get quick and easy feedback instantly from a trusted source.
