Procreate Brushes & Tools for Tattooers - Tattoo Space

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fine arts but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Brandon David, Founder of Tattoo Space, located in Canton, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business name is Tattoo Space, a digital tool and tattoo resource website. Our customers are tattooers and artists alike.

Tell us about yourself

I have been tattooing for 20 years and have always enjoyed teaching and creating. I first got into making digital tools when I started using digital drawing software and tablets instead of traditional paper and pencil. As I started using these applications daily, I noticed the apparent benefits of drawing digitally.

Once I got comfortable with the application, I began to toy around with all the different settings. I realized there were a lot of ways I could create unique tools using the full capabilities of these applications. I also realized I could teach people how to use them to make their design process more efficient, just like I had done for myself.

I started creating these tools and traveling and teaching people about them at seminars across the country. Slowly but surely, my interest in them grew and grew. Then Tattoo Space was born. I now have a complete website with tons of unique products I have helped tattooers from around the world create and sell, along with the products I made.

I love what I do because I have helped artists make passive income monthly and spread their work across the globe. I also teach and work with other artists daily, which keeps me going. I love what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been bringing together over 30 artists from around the world into one spot to create excellent tools and share them with the world. We are doing something no one has ever done and creating tools that are one of a kind for the tattoo industry.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing different people has been the job's most challenging part. I had had other businesses before, where I was much younger and less experienced with working people, and I failed.

This time, my managing skills are the main reason we continue to be successful because I am helping and allowing creators to work how they work best and manage them correctly. This has increased the production rate of our products significantly, and everyone is thrilled.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Don't give up. It sounds simple enough, but you will want to give up at some point. Usually, it's in the beginning when things don't seem to be working, but it can sometimes be later. No matter what, do everything you possibly can before you quit because your business could take off any day. You never know when that's going to be.

Be Focused. Please find what you truly want your company to be and stick to it. Try to man only a few decently and do one thing great. Or maybe a few, but don't try and do 20. The quality will be watered down.

Be prepared for growth. Please don't wait until your company is booming before you are prepared for it. When the day comes that your business takes off, any slip or delay could halter that growth, and it could turn a positive thing into a negative something, and this mistake could be your demise. Be prepared.
