What's your business, and who are your customers?

Taste Recovery is a sober living directory platform designed to help those struggling with addiction find safe and secure housing throughout the United States. Our customers are people who have a desire to stop drinking or doing drugs and want to recover within a community of like-minded people.

Tell us about yourself

I got sober at 24 years old and have been in two different sober living homes. I saw firsthand how important it is for people in recovery to find a sober living home that genuinely cares about its residents' well-being. That is why I created Taste Recovery. I wanted people to feel hopeful that there are so many places out there willing to help them get back on their feet. Seeing people get and stay sober motivates me more than anything. I love helping other alcoholics and watching them get their life back; it's the best feeling in the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing people all across the US on social media platforms recommend Taste Recovery to those that are struggling with their addiction.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I have a lot of things on my plate at once, and I wish I could clone myself sometimes!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make sure you have a plan going into it first. Have very realistic expectations. However much money you think you're going to spend on getting it up and running, I would say double it and make sure you feel like it is not going to ruin you if that happens. Have a solid group of mentors that you can call and ask questions to about all different aspects of running a business because you will absolutely need help, do not be afraid to reach out and ask for help!!

Make sure you are doing it because you love it, not because it could potentially make a lot of money. The "why" is what will get you through the hard times!
