What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a partner, coach, and consultant with Twin Life Coaching & Business Services and our division Amplifying Leadership. I coach a range of individuals on achieving life and career aspirations, as well as empowering our leaders to become great examples of leadership while building up their businesses.
Tell us about yourself
I am a Certified Career Strategist with Career Professionals of Canada in good standing. Having an Advance Life Skills Coaching level 4 diploma, along with many other professional development certifications within leadership, coaching, and CBT, has enabled me to work with a variety of backgrounds and personal / business challenges. I empower and train people and businesses, along with providing leadership coaching and resources. I have also completed a Leadership Train the Trainer course, where I was a corporate trainer on a leadership program that includes: coaching, actively listening, communication, conflict management, developing employees, working with understanding personal differences (values, behaviours, etc.), how to effectively work with diversity and many other tools. I aim to help empower people and businesses to meet current challenges, achieve goals, develop leaders, and help grow diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I took my passion from a part-time, casual business while working a full-time leadership job to being full-time role back in June 2022.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a business, it can be difficult to find clients when you first move from an evening and Saturday company to one that now has regular office hours.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
3 tips for running an effective business include:
- Understanding your clients/niche. Know who they are by creating avatars so you can market to the correct group of people or businesses.
- Lead by example. Employees will follow your lead, so lead how you want your team to be seen by the public and your customers.
- Communicate to be understood and communicate to understand.
