What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a professional sports and commercial photographer who creates content for teams, athletes, brands, and organizations. Some of my clients include National Football League, Gatorade, Nike, Direct TV, AT&T, Verizon, EA Sports, Subway, Under Armour, Kia, Skechers, K-Swiss, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and many more.

Tell us about yourself

I started in high school as a yearbook photographer. I then went to the Brooks Institute of Photography and earned my bachelor's degree. After that, my first job was working as an NFL photo editor. Since then, I have been running my own photography business. I am always networking and building my portfolio. What motivates me the most is knowing "you are only as good as your last photo."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment in business is being profitable, doing what I love to do, and to able to work when I want to work. I don't work a "normal 9-5," which is mostly a blessing.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Knowing your worth is the hardest thing for a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The top 3 tips I would give are:

  1. Network, early and often.
  2. Find your niche.
  3. Continuing education: keep up to date with the latest and greatest.
