What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our business is Tapatio Hot Sauce, and our customers are distributors worldwide. We do not sell directly to supermarkets or restaurants.
Tell us about yourself
I started working in the business in 1985, fresh out of business school, mainly to help my father with the daily paperwork and order entry before we had any computers! The main thing that motivates me each day is leaving a legacy for our kids so that they can continue the family business.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment has been reaching our 50th anniversary, all while being family owned and operated.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is the daily struggle with not having enough products to fill our orders (which is a nice problem to have as opposed to the alternative).
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top 3 tips I would give anyone looking to start and grow a business are:
- Determination.
- Persistence.
- Perseverance.
