Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Bryan Tamburrino, Founder of Tangible Analytics Consulting, LLC, located in Shelton, CT, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Tangible is a management consulting firm that uses custom data solutions, software, and executive strategy to help organizations achieve unique goals. Through our partnerships with international companies such as Zoho, Kixie, Rapid Miner, and others, our clients take advantage of our ability to implement operational efficiencies that otherwise couldn't be designed internally. Our expert team members work to deliver customized, sensible solutions - fast and with a top-quality approach. Our competitive advantage is our carefully selected and trained professionals, who not only understand your mission and business imperatives but also understand your organizational structure and management roles.
Our customers range from government entities and non-profit organizations to growing businesses. We've recently expanded to the market of solopreneurs through monthly promotions for strategy and integration services. We understand the challenges clients face, and we're aware of the need for timely, responsive service. Streamlined processes with management consulting experience, new technology, quality customer service, and attention to detail are keys to my success. We literally make data tangible…Our entire business was created around that concept. By working with us, you'll receive Tangible solutions. In our experience, this is something other organizations don't do as well or with the same level of consistency as this firm.

Tell us about yourself
I've always accelerated in the field of operational efficiency, and reflecting on my life; I realize that it's been that way since childhood. The quote by Bill Gates sums up my life perfectly..." I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it". Although I wouldn't consider myself "lazy," that's really what the introduction of automation, workflows, and strategy is all about. We want to make the biggest ongoing impact with the least amount of effort. In 2016 I felt the need to transition out of the corporate world to advance my experience and pursue new degrees. During this transition, I founded Tangible. Simply put - I was driven to succeed. Although I gained valuable experience from my corporate positions, the ability to step out of my comfort zone was limited.
I firmly believe that it was the best decision I've ever made because since then, we've grown to a roster of over 10 employees, exceeded revenue goals year over year, and I've helped over 100 clients since founding the firm. Each day, I'm motivated to help my employees grow both personally and professionally, expand my company's brand recognition and continue to help my clients reach their fullest potential. I love seeing others succeed.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Realizing that this business is not all about me and what I can personally do...meaning which programming languages I can work with, the statistics that I've studied, and the degrees that I have, but rather emphasizing what I can do for others and their needs. When I founded in 2016, I had zero sales experience. I was horrible at delivering the written or spoken reasons "why" a customer could benefit from taking advantage of our services. Over the years, I've developed into a professional salesperson and entrepreneur. To scale, you need this valuable skill. By polishing this method of delivery, I was able to improve my own efficiency, reach a new government market and expand my scope of services. Tip for the entrepreneur still planning: Learn how to sell before you begin to market. In late 2022 I launched my first proprietary software: Grantible - a next-level grant management platform priced reasonably for municipal agencies and not for profits. I could not have done any of this without the support of colleagues, the guidance of advisors like Frank Dixon from PTAC, and other extremely valuable mentors. I'm grateful for what we've built at Tangible, and I would not be as successful as I am today without the skills and people that I've mentioned.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
For a long time, I've battled with the methodology of trying to do everything alone. I needed to stop trying to micro-manage every aspect of my business because I was getting held up via the adage "working on your business vs. working in your business." I have a vision for exactly what I'd like to see. I know how to execute, but is doing this all alone effective? This is where I needed to invest in the correct combination of staff, consultants, advisors, and other resources to guide me through difficult situations and relieve me from some of the work that I needed to do. Through this, I was able to focus on operations, finance, marketing oversight, and design and, of course, better serve my clients. Once this clicked, I started to see improved relationships with others which transferred to my personal life and general satisfaction with my position as the founder of Tangible.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Learn how to sell. Knowing the potential of your services and not having the ability to help anyone understand is torturous to a person like me and, otherwise, is a waste of time.
- Learn from your mistakes. I've made so many mistakes or poor business decisions since founding in 2016. Understanding what I did improperly and using each "failure" as a guide for a better approach in future ventures was crucial to my success.
- Take care of yourself. I've found that I'm at my best, whether in business or personally when I put emphasis on emotional, physical, and spiritual health. At the end of every day, you're a professional, but more importantly, you're a human that needs to be driven by maintaining healthy relationships, and when I'm not in a good place, aspects of my life suffer.
