What's your business, and who are your customers?

I do makeup and hair for weddings and events. I also teach people how to apply makeup and do hairstyles. My customers are mainly women.

Tell us about yourself

I am Tammy Luu. A makeup artist and hairstylist who wants to turn into a makeup educator and coach. I believe that makeup, if applied well, can transform us in so many ways. And I love how I am empowering the people I work on. Every day I wake up with a mindset that my work is going to help my clients be the most confident and beautiful version of themselves. It is a mindset that drives me to be the best makeup artist I can possibly be.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening my own business is the greatest life achievement.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I have to be forced to do things I do not necessarily enjoy. I have become not only my own boss, but the finance, the marketing, and the list go on...

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Working for people first to get experiences.
  2. Keep learning (reading, research, video).
  3. Be creative.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

One of my goals for 2022 is to go into more editorial beauty to flex my creativity and try new things like sourcing the internet for cool new makeup that I can recommend to my clients.
